We came here on a company breakaway, and even though they mostly cater for the honeymooners, they had no problem handling our huge group. The location is absolutely beautiful, and the scenery changes dramatically within a few hours. Amazing sunsets, crystal clear waters, and very comfortable chalets. Food was spot on and the service was amazing, until late at night and always with a smile. They even provided transport at the drop of a hat to a person in the group who needed to get into town to see a doctor.
I’ll definitely return one day.
We stayed in Flamingo for 8 days as part of our honeymoon and we loved every part of it. It really is a stunning part of the world and we couldn’t have chosen better. The food is simply WOW WOW WOW and prob the best we’ve ever eaten. 4 delicious courses every night. And the pina coladas are gorgeous- you will put on weight!!! The bungalows are beautiful and the sunsets stunning. The staff are fantastic and work so hard. We would advise to take cash (rand or dollars) so you can tip in cash at the end as there isn’t anywhere to get any and we had to put the tips on our card but were told the staff don’t always get the tips that way but we were also told they do so cash is probably best (just for the tipping)! We went to Barra lodge one day but we weren’t overly impressed with it there as there is construction work going on and it didn’t feel as personal so we were so happy we’d chosen Flamingo. There are other honeymoon couples but it isn’t overly romantic so you will feel comfortable whether you’re a couple or family or friends. It is perfect – go!
We went to flamingo bay for our honeymoon and it was a truly amazing experience. Excellent service (dedicated morning and evening waiters), breathtaking views (especially at night) and the food was the highlight of the place (buffet breakfast and 4-course meal every night). I cannot really add to the reviews already written so I’ll just say that we will be going back as soon as we can.
From beginning to end we were treated like royalty. The lodges were simple & quaint but beautifully decorated. The views were spectacular and watching the sunset from the comfort of our balconies was a real treat! The staff were incredible…They were always willing to go the extra mile. Special mention must be made to Francisco, Raul and Alfeu who made our stay very comfortable!. Lydia your massages were amazing too! The quad biking, village walks, scuba diving and snorkeling provided us with endless fun! We also loved the pino coladas and the local rum. was delicious…mmmm. The food was good too… a lovely wide selection for seafood and non-seafood eaters.
Our honeymoon was very memorable and we fell hopelessly in love with the area, the people and the culture. We will most certainly be back one day
We stayed for a week in July. You might get the impression it’s a honeymoon only resort, but as 2 friends we didn’t feel out of place at all. Our cabin was charming, and the list of activities can keep you busy.
No one seems to mention the barra shuttle details, it leaves the lodge every hour, and it is a 3 min ride to barra. Even if it’s windy at flamingo, it’s usually perfect on barra beach.
The pansy island tour and sunset cruise are real fun, and as I mentioned the activities board is full of options. The village walk is highly recommended.
The food was great, drinks not badly priced, and I had an amazing massage at the spa.
This place has a real personal touh and they bent over backwards to help me out when I has to get an urgent fax sent.
Thanks to Cesar, remy, Lydia, Raul, alfeu, and agusto, you all made sure the stay was pleasant.
Would recommend this place to family and friends! It really is the top accommodation in the area!
We spent four days here in June 2011 and it was the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday we’ve had yet. The location was perfect, the staff friendly and accommodating, the food good and the activities fabulous! Perfect sunsets, and very romantic indeed!
Best hotel experience I have ever had, my partner and I completely fell in love with our little villa, the small (but perfectly appointed) hotel complex and the surrounding area. We loved it so much we have decided to purchase a 4X4 and drive back to Mozambique from London, UK just so we can indulge in the Flamingo Bay experience again!! Can’t wait to get there…
We booked ourselves on the quad bike tour which was fabulous! We are still talking about it nearly a year later no matter how bored our friends are of hearing it. Also, the dining experience was something else, we never expected that level of service and the food was delicious. Incredible. Lovely wine list too and we’re fussy! We went treated ourselves to the “expensive” wines on the list but once we converted back to ££’s they were actually a bargain!
One tip, don’t get too attached to your private balcony… we did and then on the last day found out how incredibly beautiful the local beach is. Not a soul on it and as stretches for as far as the eye can see.
